Papst Franziskus hat in Kenia die «abscheuliche Ungerechtigkeit» verurteilt, die Millionen Menschen zum Leben in Slums zwingt. Dafr seien Minderheiten verantwortlich, die sich nur um Geld und Macht sorgten, aber nicht um das Gemeinwohl, sagte der 78-Jhrige.
Die Bewohner in Nairobis Armenviertel Kangemi hatten den im offenen Papamobil ankommenden Papst mit begeistertem Jubel empfangen. Der Besuch in dem Slum galt als eine der wichtigsten Stationen der sechstgigen Afrika-Reise des Papstes.
Die Armen «haben einen besonderen Platz in meinem Leben und meinen Entscheidungen», versicherte das Oberhaupt der katholischen Kirche. Alle Familien htten das Recht auf ein solides Dach ber dem Kopf, trinkbares Wasser, eine Toilette und Strom, forderte Franziskus in der Kirche von Kangemi. Dort leben etwa 100 000 Menschen auf engstem Raum zusammen. Mehr als die Hlfte der rund drei Millionen Einwohner Nairobis lebt in Slums.
