VICE-PRESIDENT Inonge Wina has called on co-operating partners to support Government in setting up floating schools to cater for children in flood-prone areas.
Mrs Wina said climate change mitigation measures should be put in place to curb its effects, especially in rural areas where social infrastructure gets flooded during the rainy season.
The Vice-President said co-operating partners should work with Government to address some of these challenges.
She said this in Lusaka yesterday when a team of UNICEF directors paid a courtesy call on her.
Mrs Wina said UNICEF has played a pivotal role in ensuring child protection and children’s rights through various programmes in the health and education sectors.
She said programmes in the education sector ensure that children transit from primary school to secondary school.
The Vice-President is anxious about the high school dropout rate because it is one of the major causes of child marriages.

Icy roads make Denver's Thanksgiving trips treacherous
There has been an early-morning crash on Interstate 76 in the vicinity of a Wiggins that closed the westbound lanes transformation 2 a.m. The interstate reopened all-around two hours later. The Colorado Department of a Transportation said icy road conditions contributed with regard to the crash.
